I Pledge Allegiance to the Flag...now let's ALL Pledge Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America!

I read about this video in the paper the other day. There was a controversy at a school here in Utah abou it. If you haven't seen it you should watch it. Not because it shows us what we should do but so we can be educated in what our President is trying to convey to our children.

I find it very disturbing that the video uses the phrase "I Pledge" over and over again but not once do they continue on with:

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

They are pledging some good things, don't get me wrong, but others are very political, leftist ideas that are being thrust upon us and our children. I am baffled by the fact that not once do they mention the "true pledge".

It is interesting to know that President Eisenhower, in 1954, collaborated with Congress to include the words "under God" in the pledge. His reasoning was in response to the Communits threat of the time. Here we are in 2009 and the pledges that are being reitterated in this video never once mention God, or America, but serving and pledging to our President.

The link to the video is here..

I became curious today when my two elementary school kids came home with a note explaining that they would be showing a speech by the President on Tuesday, September 8th. The note went on to say that if we didn't want our kids to participate, at our request they could be included in another activity. Now, I don't agree with much of the President's policies but is he really trying to indoctrinate our kids. I started doing some research and came across Fox News and read up. Well, it lead me to the link of this video and it, frankly, scares me a little.

The most creepy is the guy from Red Hot Chili Peppers kissing his biceps as he pledges to serve Barrack Obama! Aren't we supposed to pledge allegiance to the United States of America.

You might want to find out what your school is doing on the 8th. I am not sure what I plan to do yet, but most likely will go to the school and watch it with my kids so if there's anything I need to explain I can do that.

I know I don't know everything, but my goal is to become more informed and pass on what I learn. I hope you will do the same. Please send me back what you think of the "I Pledge" video.

I know our political views may be different but I hope this isn't a political choice but an American choice. It just seems wrong.

I hope our country doesn't keep straying away from the original ideas, morals, and concepts created by our founding fathers. I hope those of us who don't agree with the way things are going can stand up and "Pledge" our allegiance to our country and what it was created to stand for.

  1. Hi Mylee -

Thanks for your statements. My Aunt works at a school in AZ and she has also seen the "packet" that the kids will receive before the broadcast. It gives them questions to ponder about what the president is saying and in a nutshell how we can better serve him and others. It also outlines the teachers what to say and teach about the video. She recommended keeping kids home that day - not because everything in it is bad but to make a statement. I had watched the video and it gave me a creepy feeling. I'm not sure what our school is doind yet and if they air it I'm not sure what I will do. It is sad that our country is coming to this.
